Bolt action rifles are a favorite amongst hunters, target shooters and snipers for their accuracy and reliability. They were also a common weapon for nearly all the infantryman in the First World War and date as far back as the early 19th century. With a bolt action rifle, the rifleman manually opens and closes the barrel with a small handle, normally positioned on the right-hand side of the weapon. The handle unlocks the bolt, opens the barrel and the spent shell casing is withdrawn and ejected, the firing pin is cocked and a new shell is placed in the barrel and the bolt is then closed.
